is an idea that's been in my head for a long time, I always thought that Hersh & Sons Snake Oil would be literally for oiling snakes, we all know about The One Hersh's love of Snakes. So this seemed wholly appropriate. I never expected that it would turn out as well as It did. I probably shouldn't say it, but "For all your reptile oiling needs" still makes me laugh when I see it. I love the absurdity of it, the idea of Hersh with kids in tow at one of those old-timey medicine shows, hawking oil to keep your beloved reptiles healthy. It all just feels so perfect. Plus, I just love drawing snakes, they really do make the most beautiful shapes.

Often I have to draw something to see what it needs, because I can't visualise, I get it onto the paper before I know I messed up. But this one was such a perfectly realised idea in my head before I started, That this was my first and only attempt. Like all my art prints, this one is hand-pulled with my own fair hand, using archival water-based ink on thick recycled 300gsm card, all prints are supplied unframed.

I am an artist who doesn't "love" visual art. I would never go to an art gallery, never look at an art book. I know nothing of other artists, or their work. Aphantasia means I have no visual memory, and it's hard to love something you can't remember. I *LOVE* drawing, it calms my head like nothing else, and I do like the pictures I make, but I can look back, even just a couple of days in my sketchbook, and have absolutely no memory of the picture there. I only really make art for the love of making it. They are intense, and scrappy because they have to be, I can't come back to a picture because as soon as I turn away, I forget it exists. So when I start, I have to finish before I lose concentration. Because for me, drawing is the point, not the pictures. If other people like it, I consider that an honour.
