🎶 Cupid slinging dandelion hope
When this song first came out, it really spoke to me, I had been thinking about this idea of The One Hersh's music, and how it pulls us into its orbit in the chaos, I had already drawn that as a picture, (it was called "Steering connections in the Chaos" and was a follow on to another picture, called "Connections in the chaos") but when this arrived, I thought about dandelion seeds, and how they float through the air, and how Hersh's music can carry us off. This album in particular is filled with hope (I think anyway) So this started with the classic KH logo, In Blue, and a hand drawn dandelion seed silhouette, with a human figure hanging onto the bottom (Someone mistook it for a dog... lol) in black. Dandelions are supposedly weeds, and weeds are only flowers that anyone can grow. People try to get rid of them, but they're the Sun, Moon and stars all in one, they're also the first flowers kids pick for their mums. They're beautiful and so perfectly Hersh
🎨 Hand-Drawn, Hand-Pulled Screen Print
This is a 2 colour print, and I'm not really setup for that, but all it means is, that every one will be lined up slightly differently, making them all a little bit unique. Hand-pulled with archival water-based ink on pale blue or Ivory 300gsm card, all prints are supplied unframed.
💰 Affordable Original Art
These prints are probably cheaper than they should be for genuine hand-pulled screen prints, but I want to find that balance - getting my art into the world while keeping it accessible. Every Hersh purchase directly funds Kristin Hersh studio time. Every ElRat purchase supports my art and my ability to keep doing what I do.
🖤 The ElRat Paradox
I am an artist who doesn't "love" visual art. I would never go to an art gallery, never look at an art book. I know nothing of other artists, or their work. Aphantasia means I have no visual memory, and it's hard to love something you can't remember. I *LOVE* drawing, it calms my head like nothing else, and I do like the pictures I make, but I can look back, even just a couple of days in my sketchbook, and have absolutely no memory of the picture there. I only really make art for the love of making it. They are intense, and scrappy because they have to be, I can't come back to a picture because as soon as I turn away, I forget it exists. So when I start, I have to finish before I lose concentration. Because for me, drawing is the point, not the pictures. If other people like it, I consider that an honour.
